Contact Your Representatives Regarding the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Act
Federal child nutrition programs - including the School Breakfast and School Lunch Programs; the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC); and after-school, weekend and summer nutrition programs - are critical tools in the fight against childhood hunger.
Every five years, Congress reviews these programs through the reauthorization process - providing the opportunity to improve and strengthen these programs to better address the needs of children and program providers.
The time to take action is now! On March 24th, the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry unanimously approved the Child Nutrition Reauthorization Bill. The Committee also considered and adopted several amendments to the bill. Now, the bill will move to the full Senate for a vote that will take place later this spring or early summer.
Your help is needed to ensure that the nutritional needs of our children are a top priority.
